R.I.P. Dennis Etchison

I only discovered Dennis Etchison a few years ago, and when I first read his stories they felt instantly familiar.

His writing style and subject matter clicked inside my head, which is a wonderful and regrettably rare experience that one always hopes for when trying out a new author. There is a sense of dread that pervades Etchison's view of the world and seeps into his characters and their surroundings. The feeling that something isn't quite right is one of the common threads in his writing and one that I immediately recognized and appreciated. He and his work will be greatly missed.
