When you're a little kid you believe pretty much everything adults tell you, especially when those adults are named Mom and Dad.

As childhood gives way to adolescence and those rebellious teen years take over, you start to question things and realize that adults don't necessarily have all the answers. The infallibility of your parents is suddenly uncertain and life becomes both exhilarating and a little frightening.

Breaking away from your family and striking out on your own is a natural part of growing up that everyone goes through.
